8. In Norway, it is illegal to fish for salmonoids without the annual “Government Mandatory License” (Fiskeravgift). This license will normally be arranged by the owner of the beat and make sure you always carry this with you when you are fishing for salmonoids. Be also aware that it is NOT normal to share a rod or license/permit when fishing in Norway. The normal rule is one person = one rod.
9. Gyrodactylus Salaris has had catastrophic effects on some Norwegian rivers and to prevent the parasite to spread to other rivers, all equipment need to be disinfected before you start fishing. You can either have a written declaration from your local veterinary, or it will be done by the owner/guide before you start fishing.
10. In most rivers in Norway, the fishing is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week although the most normal procedure is to start after breakfast, have a break for lunch and fish until dinner time. Evening fishing is also normal. Before fishing commence, make sure you have been given a good introduction to the river by the owner or the guide and make sure you select the appropriate equipment and flies. Be aware, that in Norway, it is not customary to give the owner or guide a tip at the end of the fishing – unless you are very pleased of course.
11. Some Norwegian rivers are quite powerful in terms of water flow and currents. We strongly recommend that you bring and use a life jackets or buoyancy aids when you are in a boat or wading in strong currents. A wading stick is also a very wise consideration in such conditions. If you ignore this advice or advice from the beat owner or your guide, you are fishing on your own risk
12. It is mandatory by law to report full details of any fish caught to the owner/guide. It is preferably to report your catches after every day fishing or before you leave. This accounts for any fish (salmon) you have released too.
13. The right’s owner or Norway Salmon Fishing reserve the right to immediately withdraw fishing permits without compensation from anyone who breaks the fishing law or associated rules and regulations or flouts normal standards of behaviour or fishing etiquette.

If you don’t get a satisfactory response, please contact the tour operator/agent or Norway Salmon Fishing promptly. This gives us time to act before you leave and time to correct any misgivings.
