General
There is a wide range of high-quality accommodation in Norway, from first-class hotels to rooms in private houses. If you are going to be travelling in Norway during the high season and plan to visit the largest cities or very popular tourist areas, you should book accommodation ahead of time.
Norway Salmon Fishing arrangements, In connection with fishing organised by Norway Salmon Fishing, the arrangements are inclusive of accommodation as the local beat owners prefer to offer a total package including fishing, accommodation, full or half board food arrangement and guiding.
There are normally 3 types of accommodation available.

Hotels
Due to the rural position of the rivers, most hotels are small, family operated hotels or inns. These are mainly timber-built hotels, often with a unique atmosphere. During the fishing season, management and staff at these hotels are very much involved in the practical aspect of the fishing and are very helpful and supportive in helping their guests to achieve their main aim – to fish and catch salmon.

Lodges/cabins
A number of beat owners can offer very good quality lodges/cabins – often placed in close proximity to the river. As with both farmhouses and hotels, the normal arrangement will be for each guest to have their own bedroom, unless they are sharing with their spouse or partner. Lodges/cabins are normally well equipped with good standard bathrooms/toilets in addition to a kitchen/kitchenette with cooking facilities and spacey lounge and dining area. Staying at a lodge/cabin is normally the only arrangement with self-catering opportunities although most beat owners arrange full or half board as a part of the lodge/cabin stay.

Farmhouses
The majority of rivers and beats in co-operation with Norway Salmon Fishing are offering accommodation in farmhouses. Particularly the Central Norway region (Trøndelag) is famous for its large and spacey farmhouses, called a lån. Although the quality of these farmhouses can vary, the majority is the family home and are looked after with care and attention and contains all the modern facilities needed to accommodate any guest. Staying at a family farmhouse creates a very ‘intimate’ atmosphere, as the guest(s) become a part of the family for the time of their stay. Normally, only 4 – 6 people will be staying at any time.
